Highlights include a rare Killarney box inlaid with a geographical map of Great Britain, lot 418, £1,000-1,500; a group of Minton ‘Bengal Tiger’ or ‘Crazy Cow’ pattern porcelain, lot 77, £2,000-3,000; a scarce pair of Bow ‘Birds in Branches’ candlestick groups, c.1762, lot 74, £2,000-3,000 and a 19th Century Chinese Sang De Boeuf Yuhuchunping, lot 168, £1,000-1,500.
Particular highlights of the sale are lot 1478 and 1504. Lot 1478, an Art Deco enamel and diamond compact, by Laloche Freres, circa 1810, is estimated at £10,000-15,000. With a double cover filled with royal blue enamel, opening with a diamond-set chinoiserie button clasp, the inner surface enamelled in tones of green and black depicting a chinoiserie landscape, lifting to reveal a mirror and a powder compartment.
Lot 1504, a platinum and diamond three-stone ring, is estimated at £10,000-15,000. The graduated round brilliant-cut diamonds in claw settings, estimated total diamond weight 3.40ct, hallmarked Sheffield. The sale includes a gentleman’s collection of silver cream jugs, mustard pots, and a fine array of sporting and novelty jewellery. Jewellery by Cartier, Tiffany, Liberty, Vourakis, Marina B, Boucheron and Chaumet all feature heavily.
Particular highlights of the sale are lots 1387 and 1673. Lot 1387, a substantial Rococo Revival silver tea kettle on stand by Paul Storr, hallmarked London 1832, estimated at £6,000-8,000. Lot 1673, a 19th Century baroque pearl chain necklace by Castellani, is estimated at £4,000-6,000. The chain measures 123cm long and is signed with the maker’s mark. The auction also benefits from a single-owner collection of Arts and Crafts silver, including work by the luminaries Omar Ramsden and Alwyn Carr.
